Most companies measure trade fairs by what they can count afterwards: leads, business cards, square metres. The decisive work happens far earlier.
A participation without a defined commercial objective cannot succeed, because nobody on site knows what winning looks like. Before design, before budget, before logistics, three questions must be answered: which market are we addressing, which decision do we want a visitor to make, and how will we know it happened.
Everything else — architecture, staffing, hospitality, follow-up — is execution of that answer.
